The time has arrived for my 2017 NASCAR predictions. The Daytona 500 arrives this Sunday, so before we get started for real, here’s my thoughts on what we’ll see this year.
Clint Bowyer will be racing for the championship at Homestead.
Kasey Kahne will be the only Hendrick Motorsports driver that will not win a race this season.
Danica Patrick will be released from the 10 car before the season ends.
Daniel Suarez will win a race in the first half of the season.
The segmented race concept will be extremely confusing, which will lead NASCAR to eliminate the concept prior to the start of the 2018 season.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will win the 2017 Daytona 500.
Kyle Busch will only win three Cup races this season.
Not including the Daytona 500, expect to see large swaths of empty seats for Cup races at the drop of the green flag each week.
Finally, Dale Earnhardt Jr. captures the Cup title that has always eluded him. Once winning the title, he hangs up the steering wheel and calls it a career.
Will I be correct? I’m not even sure, so I’ll sit back and watch just like the rest of NASCAR fans to see how it all unfolds. Good luck to your favorite driver and teams this season, and feel free to leave a comment with your predictions for this season. We can all revisit down the road to see how well we did.
