It has been far too long since I have put together an article for TroubleInTurnTwo.com. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, Lee is back and ready to carry you through another season of NASCAR racing!
Let me first apologize for tailing off at the end of the 2011 season. There was a lot going on in my life, some good some bad, and I simply did not have the energy or the time to bring our followers and readers the coverage that was deserved. My apology and it will not happen this year. It was a great finish to the season and very enjoyable to see Tony Stewart take the championship by winning the final race over Carl Edwards running second at Homestead.
Now that the 2011 season is behind us in the rear view mirror, we can now turn our attention to 2012. Let me say that I am not going to bore you with who is going to be in the top 12 come the Chase, or who is going to win the Cup this year. One year ago we all thought that Denny Hamlin was going to have a superb 2011 and contend for the championship. We were all wrong, enough said.
I am not a believer at this point of the upcoming season, even after winter testing, to predicting much of anything. We need a few races on the track to see what teams catch the early momentum. There are also rule changes that must be adjusted to as well. We just do not have any data to make any long term predictions at this point.
Please do not get me wrong, I am looking forward to see the season getting under way. I want to get an idea of who is running well, and who drops out of contention early. With that in mind, here are three predictions for early in the season.
- Dale Earnhardt Jr. will win a race within the first 10 races of the season.
- Kurt Busch will struggle with his new team.
- Danica Patrick wins a Nationwide Race before race 25 of the season.
Just some vague preseason thoughts to throw out there. Could happen, and might not. We will see. The green flag is getting closer and I know I cannot wait.
One more thing, thank you to all of the great folks on Twitter that I follow and who follow this site back. You all make watching the races much more entertaining and even times when it is not race time. Thank you especially to all the new followers from last night. We had a great response to us going over the 300 follower mark. We are excited and proud to have all of you following us and we look forward to hearing from you in the near future. I wish I could do a #FF for all of you every Friday, but I have not found a good quick way to make that happen.
By the way, if you are interested in being a contributor to our site, please drop us a line (admin@troubleinturntwo[dot]com or message us on twitter or leave a comment in the section below and we will get in touch). We make no money on the site so the pay is zero, but we would love to have some additional contributors to the site for the racing season!
